My first 200km bicycle ride challenge

I have just accomplished my first 200km bicycle ride challenge. Though the speed was average it was a testament to my “self-discipline” – an essential element for success in many aspects of life.
Life achievement is through aggregated experience, not by miracles.

Training of Willpower

The goal was to complete 8 laps between Bride’s Pool and Luk Keng. However after 2 laps, I realized my condition of the day was just average. There was a moment I thought, “Why not just settle for 4 laps and call it a day!” After a round of struggle, I finally pushed through and completed all 8 laps.
A lone training for a long course may seem lonely, but in fact it provides a calm moment to do some soul-searching, an opportunity not often at hand. Whenever exhaustion sets in, recalling my true and initial intention re-energises my will and drive to carry on. That is what “Perseverance” is about.
Long Distance Training in the Rain

According to the training schedule, today’s goal was to complete a 180km long distance training. However, shortly after setting off, it started to drizzle 🌨️, and then it turned into a heavy downpour 🌨️🌨️🌨️ once I reached Luk Keng.
After 80km, the rain showed no signs of stopping, and all sorts of concerns started to surface in my mind. Will my waterproof vest keep me warm and dry? Is it safe to continue training in such adverse weather conditions? But I didn’t want to give up.
After a round of struggle, I made a commitment to myself: “Unless the weather poses a risk to my safety, I will complete the 180km training!” In the end, I managed to accomplish it. I trained in the rain for over 7 hours. We cannot control the weather or external circumstances, but often, the biggest challenge we need to overcome is “our self.”
“Win over our self!” And we can conquer all challenges🌈.

This time, we have prepared some cool knowledge about bicycle challenges for everyone, allowing you to have a deeper understanding of Salmon’s training for the competition🤩.

Training in High Temperature

Today with an average temperature of 35°C🌡️, but the body temperature feels like it’s reaching a scorching 40°C🥵. The color function of the phone camera “disappears” due to the extreme heat📱♨️, leaving only black and white photos.
The body’s hydration also “disappears,” and I drink at least 7L of water throughout the process💧. However, my determination doesn’t “disappear.” I finally perseveres and completes a 180 km ride despite I have considering giving up🚴.
The environmental temperature is beyond our control, sometimes accompanied by heavy rain 🌧️ and other times relentless sunshine ☀️. Therefore, having the right mindset is crucial. I believe that in various aspects of life, including work, we may not be able to change the environment, but we can adapt and even create our own opportunities for ourselves💪!
Happy Moments from 5-month training

Less than a week away from departing for the UK, my real challenge is about to come😁. To ensure my body is in the best condition to face the challenge💪, I will now start reducing his training volume. During this resting period, I would like to share some happy incidents that happened during his training🤗.
1. One time after training, I went to a restaurant to buy takeaway🥡. The restaurant staff saw me drenched in sweat and asked, “Is it raining heavily outside?🌧️” I replied, “It’s not raining outside, all of this is just my sweat💦.”
2. I often goes to train cycling uphill and downhill on Sui Wo Road🚵, and I always encounters neighbors I have met on the road on my way back👋. One time, a neighbor who was running asked me how many round trips I aimed for, and I said, “10 times.” The neighbor encouraged me by saying, “Keep it up!” Later, we occasionally met on the road and encouraged each other💪. These were heartwarming moments during the training process🥰.
3. During my recent long-distance training, I felt particularly tough and uncomfortable😷. When I sat down to rest, I suddenly felt nauseous and vomited. I vomited a total of 5 times that day😵. Initially worried that something serious was wrong, I later found out I had COVID and now has natural antibodies, which actually makes my trip to British safe from COVID now😆.
Ride Challenge is about to begin🚴. We hope everyone continues to support me and follows my progress in the challenge, while also supporting Music Children💝!
