The Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Project Grant : Happy Music Together Programme

Course Introduction

The Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Project Grant: Happy Music Together Programme provides free-of-charge musical instruments, vocal and music theory training to children aged 6-12. A new approach is adopted to let children acquire a holistic experience with music and musical instruments. The curriculum is student-oriented in order to achieve learning through students’ interactions.

During the first year of the programme, students are encouraged to explore different musical instruments and participate in vocal training to create music freely with their own voices. In conjunction with games, training, demonstrations, experiments, practice, and group activities, the students will acquire and experience music in a fun and happy environment.

During the second to fourth year of the programme, MCF will arrange for experienced musicians to provide students with instrument trainings. A special training curriculum is devised to help students of different levels to adapt and learn, ensuring they enjoy the pleasure of playing the instruments.

The Foundation will provide the graduates with event assistance opportunities as part of their training and practice. Seminars conducted by industry professionals will be arranged to help our students acquire knowledge regarding presentation skills, teaching skills, interviewing skills, social skills, and even basic
financial management skills.

To spread the pleasure of learning music, 2 music appreciation events for the community each year are planned. Besides holding performances, musical instrument demonstrations and introduction events will be held to provide visitors with an upclose experience with the instruments. These events enable us to
connect with and serve the community while also promoting our Happy Music Together Programme.
