Drumming in Harmony – Family Fun for Everyone
The “Community Music Project – Facilitated Drum Circle”, held last Saturday (April 13), came to a joyful and interactive close amidst a vibrant atmosphere of rhythm and music! The entire afternoon was filled with laughter, creativity, and musical connection, with participants of all ages — from toddlers to seniors — fully immersed in the experience.
Regardless of their musical background, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the session under the guidance of facilitator Thomas Chiu. The beats of the drums replaced spoken words, creating a deep connection among participants. The room echoed with laughter, and the energy was electric. As the session came to an end, a group of children even excitedly shouted “Encore!”, and some eagerly took turns leading the group in impromptu drumming, creating a heartwarming scene.
In addition to Thomas’s engaging facilitation, Emma Ng introduced a variety of percussion instruments, opening participants’ eyes to the rich world of rhythm. During the final Q&A session, Thomas shared his invaluable experiences from years of leading drum circles, inspiring both educators and music enthusiasts. Many attendees expressed their desire to incorporate the drum circle approach into their daily teaching to spark creativity and energy in the classroom.
A heartfelt thank you to the Jean CK Ho Family Foundation for their generous sponsorship, which made it possible for us to bring the vitality of music into the community.
