Great Eagle Music Children Ensemble Opening Ceremony
Thanks to the generous support from Great Eagle Holdings Limited, Music Children Foundation is able to form the Great Eagle Music Children Ensemble (GEMCE), allowing children from grass-root families that have performed well previously to continue their music journey. The opening ceremony was held on the 16th of December 2018 where Dr. Lo Ka Shui, chairman and managing director of Great Eagle, attended as guest of Honour. 30 members of the ensemble performed 4 pieces in Langham Place Mongkok, then boarded an open-top bus travelling from Nathan Road to Tsim Sha Tsui, performing multiple Christmas carols along the way. During the opening ceremony, Monique Pong, co-founder and creative executive, said, “I feel extremely touched to be able to witness the power of music and how it has changed our music children these 5 years. I hope they will cherish this opportunity to further their music education and make the most out of it!” GEMCE consists of 12 string players, 12 woodwind, brass players and percussionists, together with 8 talented choristers. By forming the GEMCE, we hope to improve our music children’s musical attainments and broaden their horizons through comprehensive music training, public performances and competitions.
