Rehearsal for Music Children Fruit Programme《2022 Annual Concert》

21 Aug 2022

With the approach of the Annual Concert 2022 our students and tutors were putting extra efforts to their practice. On 21 August all performers, over 500 gathered for the first time at the Heung Yee Kuk Building to rehearse for the concert. That was quite a scene. The concert will surely be a memorable event on performance day.

We are very grateful to the volunteering assistance from the following organizations to help take care of the students on rehearsal day, and the cooperation from Heung Yee Kuk Building to make the rehearsal went smoothly.

Announcement of Music Children Fruit Programme《2022 Annual Concert》

Life is like a palette,
filled with a variety of colours,
ever changing like a kaleidoscope
at different stages with different colours.
Subdued, yet there is Light.

The pandemic in the last two years has casted a shroud of dimness to our lives. Due to the multiple restrictions, our music children were reduced to online trainings, a huge challenge for group practice to choir and orchestra. Some of the students could only practice fingering exercise at home for fear of causing disturbances to their neighbours.

During the difficult times when we were unable to distribute musical instruments to our newly joined students, with persistent spirits our strings tutors came up with an innovative idea to teach the students to construct a makeshift violin with common household items in order to practise the correct way to hold the violin, and bowing; our woodwind tutors taught the students to make use of the materials we supplied  (water pipes, funnels and mouthpieces) to construct the pipe and bell of the woodwind instrument for practice at home. Our music production team produced a series of concert videos broadcasted online so as to connect our audience.

It is unfortunate that our 2020 and 2021 Annual Concerts were forced to present online due to the pandemic. With fingers crossed, our children will be performing live again on stage this year. The ruthless pandemic might have distanced people apart but music never left us disconnected. Music Children and their tutors will join together in orchestra and chorus to perform live on stage. Your support and encouragement is the motivation to our ongoing endeavours. Our  children performance awaits your support.
