Dr Lo Po Yan
Choral Director
Dr Lo Po Yan is currently a community music and choral educator. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree majoring in music from the Education University of Hong Kong and a Master of Arts in Music from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She also graduated with a Doctor of Education from the Education University of Hong Kong. Her primary research interest is about community music development.
During her studies, Lo frequently worked in different music and theatre productions. She was awarded the Licentiate Diploma in Recital in Voice from the Trinity College London, in addition to the Advanced Certificate in Jazz and the Associate Teacher Diploma from the Australian Teachers of Dancing Association. Lo frequently works in different music and choral education events. She worked with different local groups in organizing various concerts, theater productions and community art activities.
In 2014, Lo established the WAO!Singers which aims to smash the traditional practices of community choirs, and to sow musical seeds among communities. At the same year, she also worked as choral director in Music Children Foundation which providing professional and free music program to grassroots children. She currently is the artistic director of the WAO!Singers, the choral director of the Music Children Foundation Choir, the music director of EduHK chorus and choir conductor in various secondary and primary schools.
Yeung Tsz Ting
Yeung Tsz Ting, Phoebe, is currently studying at Concordia University Wisconsin for a Master degree in Church Music with particular emphasis on the handbell. She previously graduated from the Education University of Hong Kong (EduHK) with a Bachelor of Education (Honors) Degree in music education. She studied choral conducting with Mr. Henry Leck, Dr. Alexa Doebele and Ms. Theodora Pavlovitch.
Phoebe performs regularly and actively seeks exchanges overseas. Indeed she has not only undertaken exchanges in the University of Washington, and Butler University but has also performed in the Nara University of Education and the 2012 International Society for Music Education Conference.
Since 2012 Phoebe has directed various handbell, handchime and belleplate ensembles in different organizations including both primary and secondary schools. She was a music teacher in a secondary school, project manager in “WAO! Singers”, conductor of the Tai Po Children Choir and singer in the Hong Kong Melody Makers to help promoting music education in handbell and choral music.
Cloris Chin
CLORIS Chin graduated from The Education University of Hong Kong, awarded Bachelors degree of Music in Education (Contemporary music and performance pedagogy), majoring in Voice. She obtained performance diploma (ATCL) with distinction on voice and ABRSM grade 8 certificate with distinction on Piano.
Cloris is currently a conductor of various community choir and school choir including Music Children Foundation, Tai Po Children Choir, Yuen Long Children Choir, School Choir of St. Francis of Assisi’s English Primary School.
